Why is this front page funny?

A swell prize to the first person whose answer pleases me.

oh those crazy words

So I'm reading quite a funny book (Fin by James Delingpole) and this line in particular caught my eye, "and he says something gnomic like 'I know not of your pod."
Now, I've never heard the word gnomic. I can't figure out exactly what it means from the context, but it sounds like it could be good. And because I'm a huge geek, I get excited 'cause I don't often come across interesting sounding words that I don't know the meaning of.
So I look it up.
Gnomic: relating to or containing gnomes.
Now I am crushed because rather than being a spangly new word to describe something of great import or something esoteric ( the way it sounds like it should), it actually refers to gnomes. And I realise the times that I may be able to slip the word gnomic casually into conversation will be rare and likely involve a game of Dungeons and Dragons. And because I boycotted Dungeons and Dragons a few years ago because it takes way to long to develop your character even before you abandon days if not weeks to actually playing it, I doubt it will ever happen.

(by the way, the definition of gnomic that reads 'containing gnomes' means in a poem or book, not for example, in a soup).

I knew them when

Any regular reader of I'm Huge will have noticed that his latest entry links to a little site he refers to as 'smashing'. Whatever, I'm Huge. I met them first, but I have to agree that The New Pollution is smashing. Two of my bestest friends have given music journalism the life it so desperately needs.
Enjoy!

Our House

There's a bar round the corner with an interesting history: Madness began their illustrious career in its grimy back room. It's called the Dublin Castle and it could possibly be the perfect bar. Despite being brightly lit ( I dislike brightly lit bars; there is something to be said for faces made attractive by forgiving light), it has the most comprehensive jukebox I have ever seen. The back room is for bands --Waking Eyes are playing on Tuesday-- and after 12 it turns into the Dance Cave, but with no cover and sightly older boys, and better music. So if you needed yet another reason to come to London, the Dublin Castle is it.
Latest news. we bought a computer! it's second hand, but super fast.
