oh those crazy words
Now, I've never heard the word gnomic. I can't figure out exactly what it means from the context, but it sounds like it could be good. And because I'm a huge geek, I get excited 'cause I don't often come across interesting sounding words that I don't know the meaning of.
So I look it up.
Gnomic: relating to or containing gnomes.
Now I am crushed because rather than being a spangly new word to describe something of great import or something esoteric ( the way it sounds like it should), it actually refers to gnomes. And I realise the times that I may be able to slip the word gnomic casually into conversation will be rare and likely involve a game of Dungeons and Dragons. And because I boycotted Dungeons and Dragons a few years ago because it takes way to long to develop your character even before you abandon days if not weeks to actually playing it, I doubt it will ever happen.
(by the way, the definition of gnomic that reads 'containing gnomes' means in a poem or book, not for example, in a soup).
